Case study book design "Building the Richard C. Blum Center for Developing Economies at the University of California, Berkeley" for Gensler, San Francisco.
The book is a case study featuring the design, building and engineering of the Richard C. Blum Center for Developing Economies. What made this effort special was UC Berkeley granted the site for the new building under the condition that the historic Naval Architecture Building would not be destroyed but restored and integrated into the new architectural solution which presnted unique challenges resulting in award winning restoration work and a truly unique architectural product.
The case study features the importance of the foundation's purpose, the historical background, architectural, restoration, engineering, environmental design challenges, team players of the effort and the building's final dedication and unveiling.
It was designed as reference book and to be presented as a personal gift for Richard Blum and Art Gensler under the direction of Lisa Bottom - LEED AP, Associate AIA, Associate IIDA Gensler Principal.
